Robert Bowling ( Creative Strategist at Infinity Ward ) in a tweet stated that Activision’s upcoming magnum opus Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – which is being developed by Infinity Ward, Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games- is using the same game engine as Modern Warfare 2. According to him, developing a new game engine from the ground up is “counter productive. An engine takes years and years to develop and get right.”
Although we’re one day away from April 17, when the promised 12-minute full length trailer of DICE’s upcoming magnum opus of a game Battlefield 3 is out, the official Battlefield Channel on YouTube just published another trailer, called “My Life”. Watch the video after the jump.
It is a widely known fact that Sony is gunning for a 10-year lifecycle for the PS3. So accordingly, the PS4 should be out sometime around 2016. On the other hand, Microsoft hasn’t said anything about the prospective release date for the Xbox 720 which is rumoured to be in development. If you’re wondering why the topic of this discussion is the release schedule of the next-generation consoles, it’s because DICE is already looking forward to making bleeding edge graphics games on them.
E3 is fast approaching, and will be as exciting as ever before – now that DICE has stated that “E3 is probably a good time to keep your ears open” for news on the game’s multiplayer.
EA just revealed the box art for one of their biggest upcoming titles – Battlefield 3 – developed by DICE. Have a look:
As you can see, the general theme of the box art remains quite unchanged from what we saw in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – a lone soldier walking with a gun in hand, and a flame effect on one side. With vehicles. Because vehicles make the game so much more cooler.
Well, another trailer for Battlefield 3 has landed. And boy, does the game look good. Mind you, it’s alpha code, and runs on PC. It’s called: “Battlefield 3 Fault Line Gameplay Episode III: Get That Wire Cut.” Have a look:
Karl Magnus Troedsson – General Manager at DICE – admitted that prone was in fact making its way to Battlefield 3 because of the “outcry from the community”. “It was hard to ignore the outcry from the community,” he said.
If you’ve played Battlefield: Bad Company 2, you would have no doubt liked the cheesy dialogues and generally goofy setting of the game. When Battlefield 3 comes out, that’s all going to change.
At GDC, Patrich Bach of DICE unhesistantly told the crowd that PC was the lead platform. This piece of news should undoubtedly please PC gamers, who doubted DICE’s intentions when they went multiplat with the Bad Company spin-offs.
DICE had promised us that we’d get to see more of Battlefield 3 on March 1, and they kept up their promise!
