"ZOMG! A TROPHY! LET'S GET 'EM ALL!"

In July 2008, with firmware update 2.40 Sony introduced the concept of Trophies. They were a way of tracking one’s accomplishments in any given game. Quintessentially, for gamers it meant bragging rights. Sony quite obviously made it mandatory for all developers to integrate the Trophy system in every game they made for the PS3.

Creator of one of the most innovative titles in gaming history ( Heavy Rain ) David Cage said that he expected Sony’s long-standing DualShock to mark “the end of an era.” Clearly he’s in favour of the new-age devices – Sony’s Move and Microsoft’s Kinect – but goes on to say that he doesn’t know if “Kinect or Move are the ultimate answer.”

Battlefield 3 Box Art Revealed

EA just revealed the box art for one of their biggest upcoming titles – Battlefield 3 – developed by DICE. Have a look:

As you can see, the general theme of the box art remains quite unchanged from what we saw in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – a lone soldier walking with a gun in hand, and a flame effect on one side. With vehicles. Because vehicles make the game so much more cooler.

Many gamers, even to this day, believe that a game is what it looks like. Everytime there’s a discussion about one game being better than the other, the first thing that the loyal fans throw at their opponents is that the game has “splendid” graphics. But is graphics everything? Is the gameplay mechanics totally unaccounted for?

Well, another trailer for Battlefield 3 has landed. And boy, does the game look good. Mind you, it’s alpha code, and runs on PC. It’s called: “Battlefield 3 Fault Line Gameplay Episode III: Get That Wire Cut.” Have a look:

In the gaming industry, video game sales are at the peak only in the first few weeks following a game’s launch. After that, consumers gradually lose interest, resulting in an eventual decline of sales ( sometimes, an abrupt decline even ). Specifically talking about Killzone 2 and Killzone 3, the reports are disappointing.
