That was a recent tweet from one of the leading influential men in the gaming industry himself – Cliffy Bleszinski. Yeah, read that again. And again. Did he just say mention Killzone? Well, he did. And quite obviously, he’s referring to Killzone 3 – which will hit stores this month.
“Okay, the real reason Bulletstorm was built was because Gears wasn’t ready for this spring and we needed a product to f**k with Killzone. ;)”
Seriously? Bulletstorm and Killzone 3? We all know how Killzone 3 is in a totally different league. Not to sound fanboy-ish, but I’m sure many will support me in this argument. Killzone 3 is a far superior to Bulletstorm – technically, artistically and even otherwise. I do agree that Bulletstorm is bringing something new to the table with the “Kill with Skill” gameplay feature, but I honestly don’t see how that can add any replay value to the game. The game might be second-time playable, but that’s that. Now, I’m not saying that there isn’t a possibility of Bulletstorm outselling Killzone 3, but sans doubt we know who is the real winner.
And yes, Cliffy… I agree that Bulletstorm and Gears of War come from the same company, but please do try to bring something new and fresh. Bulky, oddly-haired ( I don’t know how Grayson missed a bandana ) and oddly-proportioned men carrying guns heavier than them is old. We saw that in Gears of War. And come on, Anarchy mode? We saw that in Gears of War ( too ). Sort of – Horde mode in Gears of War 2, remember?
There are many other multiplayer modes yet to be revealed ( hopefully ) and hopefully – they won’t be rip-offs of other multiplayer shooters.
